Velociraptor was a small carnivorous dinosaur that lived on the continent of East Asia about 83 to 70 million years ago (late Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era). Belongs to theropods. The body is slender and the skull is large. A distinctive feature is the large claws on the hind legs. It is thought that it was a feathered dinosaur. It has a total length (head and body length + tail length) of approximately 2.07 meters, a hip height of approximately 0.5 meters, and an estimated weight of up to 15 kilograms, and its size in terms of head and body length is approximately that of a turkey or a coyote. They are small and slender, and their skulls are quite large compared to others. While the snout is curved upward, the eye sockets are not protruding, rather they are concave and have an arched shape overall. It also has an extremely long and straight skull, measuring up to 25 centimeters in length, and these features clearly distinguish it from related species. A distinctive feature of this species is the large claws on its hind legs, which are said to have been used to inflict fatal wounds on prey during hunting, but there are differing theories as to how they were actually used: a slashing type and a piercing type. Today, sickle claws are said to have been used primarily for slashing, although they were also used for piercing and climbing trees.
